Kharma - Taking Care of Your Place in The Universe

When I was a wild teenager, I learned by observation that if I did something evil or underhanded, I was usually repayed in kind by some unseen force in the universe. I remember a time when I was seventeen and I "borrowed" a few dollars from someone. My conscience bothered me, but I did it anyway. Within two weeks, my prized jean jacket was stolen, followed by my bicycle. Were these events connected? I believe so.

I have had enough life experience now to truly believe that you do have a role in making your own luck. There have been too many experiences that back this up. In a big busy world so many events are given up to coincedence but I believe that there is more than chance at work.

Tommy Shane Steiner's country hit "What if She's an Angel" makes this point...what if the amount of good fortune you receive is equal to the amount of good fortune you create for others. Maybe it is a "human" energy that helps to keep our civilzation intact.. A type of moral telepathy that surrounds us and affects others without our knowledge. This explains the power of positive visualization and the mind over matter occurances that happen so often.

In my own life, I've experienced the phenomenon of positive Kharma many times. Certainly with my cars it works...I specialize in driving older vehicles and without exception all of them have surpassed expectations in terms of reliability and performance. I feel emotionally connected with my cars and I "feel" and "hear" and "sense" their condition. Yet when my youngest son started driving, I found that if my car was going to breakdown, it was when he was driving one of them. He would often trash talk my cars, calling them pieces of junk etc. and as a result, they would pay him back by letting him down.

Now Jamie has his own car he is learning to listen to his feelings and he is learning the art of good kharma. He's had a tough year...It has been tough on his parents too. But I realize that it has nothing to do with whether he is doing well materialistically. It's not about marks or jobs, it is about Jamie as a person. It's about trustworthiness, values, reliability, and being a net contributor to the people around him.

This is a problem all young people face today.....in this gimmie, gimmie world, the sense of duty is slipping away. There's a pile of slabwood resting on two pallettes in front of my garage. To me its a metahphor for Jamie's new resolve to be a better person. I asked him to move it into the Garage two weeks ago....It has been reduced in size but has yet to disappear.. When it does, I'll make a deposit of serious positive Kharma in Jamie's Lifebook!!

So to close... I have found that since I have decided to concentrate on being a better person, better things have happened in my life..No I haven't won the lottery, but I've won much more... I have a great wife who has stuck by me for 25 years and I have two great kids. I have a job I love, and I live in a place as close to heaven on earth as one can get....Life is good....

There is an invisible attachment to this blog...I send every reader a healthy does of good fortune....enjoy and keep smiling

Oooh good! I like it when people attach me good fortune! :)

I agree with every word in this post...sure i'm one of those science guys that seeks answers to all of the questions in the universe, but I think that karma is one of those things that can't be explained, at least not by our current mental capacities. Great post, and I will keep smiling!
